From Italy with Love (and Necessity!)

Hi, I’m Nyah Taylor, founder of Chrome Shield Botanicals. Our story begins in the beautiful town of Reggio Emilia, Italy - yes, the same place where Kobe Bryant spent part of his childhood while his dad played professional basketball. My family and I found ourselves there for similar reasons.

I arrived in Italy six months pregnant in August, carrying not just our future baby boy, but also dreams of adventure in a new country. What I didn’t expect was the relentless army of mosquitoes that seemed determined to make our lives miserable. When our son was born that November, I found myself facing a new parent’s worst nightmare: how do you protect your precious newborn’s delicate skin from aggressive bugs without exposing him to harsh chemicals? The challenge became even more complex because my partner has eczema-prone skin, making most commercial repellents a no-go for our family.

The Journey to a Solution

During those ten months in Italy, I became a woman on a mission. I spent countless hours researching natural remedies on Google, diving deep into traditional ingredients, and learning about plant-based alternatives to chemical-heavy bug sprays. I wasn’t a chemist or skincare expert - I was just a mom who saw a problem and refused to accept that families like mine had to choose between protection and safety.

By May of this year, with our 6-month-old son (now almost 9 months!) as my motivation, I started seriously developing what would become Chrome Shield’s signature formula. Three months of mixing, testing, and perfecting different combinations of natural ingredients led me to create what I lovingly call my “little potion” - a 100% organic bug repellent balm and spray.

What makes Chrome Shield special isn’t just that it works - it’s that it cares for your skin while it protects. Our balm doesn’t just repel bugs; it nourishes sensitive skin with every application. No harsh chemicals, no overwhelming artificial scents, no compromise on effectiveness. From baby cheeks to adult skin dealing with eczema, we’ve created something that the whole family can use with confidence.

Our Mission and Vision

I’m passionate about serving POC families because I know firsthand how often we’re overlooked in the wellness space. Our communities disproportionately deal with sensitive skin conditions and eczema, yet we’re rarely the focus when products are being developed. But my vision extends beyond any single community - Chrome Shield is for every family tired of choosing between safety and comfort, for every parent who’s read ingredient labels with growing concern, for everyone who believes natural protection shouldn’t mean sacrificing effectiveness.

Looking Ahead

We’re officially launching on September 22nd, 2025, and the support has been incredible - we’ve built a community of almost 200 followers on Instagram who believe in our mission as much as we do. But this is just the beginning!

Chrome Shield was born out of necessity, research, and most importantly, care. Every jar represents a mother’s love, a family’s journey, and a commitment to proving that you never have to choose between safety and comfort. We’re not just protecting skin - we’re protecting what matters most: your family’s health and happiness!
